Hello, my name is Jana Bryant. My health and weight loss journey began in November 2016 after a startling encounter with a Weight Watchers scale at Costco. The number it displayed shocked me into action, compelling me to prioritize my health and well-being.

I got to my highest weight, not by sitting on the couch eating bon-bons, but because of multiple health scares. I endured plantar fasciitis, heel spurs, and Achilles tendon surgery, followed by a Bilateral Pulmonary Embolism (blood clot both lungs) that led to blood thinners and stomach ulcers. Additionally, I suffered a hamstring hematoma and underwent diverticulitis surgery in 2013-14, resulting in the removal of 10 inches of my large intestine and multiple hernia repairs with a mesh covering most of my abdomen. Because of this, I was stuck in bed and my weight and health paid for it.

After enduring bedridden periods and recovering from surgeries I hit my highest weight, I knew I needed to start on a health and weight management program. In November 2016, I found Curves in Dayton, Nevada. It changed my life. The coaches and the people were very inviting from the start, so I joined! I would work out 4 days a week and follow their nutrition program. Also worked out with my doctor's wife, who is a personal trainer, 2 days a week. That was my life and soul. I was dedicated to hard work, exercise and healthy eating and it paid off! My mind and body were in a happy place.

In April 2021, I relocated to Colorado to be closer to my family, prompting me to seek out my new workout happy place. My Colorado health journey started with personal trainer, Amanda Webb when I joined Carbon Valley Recreation Center. She trained and helped me get back into shape so I could find my new health routine.

Determined to qualify for knee replacement surgery and overall good health, I have committed to Sheri's classes four times a week despite my deteriorating knees and ailing shoulder. I take all of Sheri’s classes. She is such an amazing, knowledgeable lady and CVPRD instructor and personal trainer, that has taught me so much and brings a smile to my face. I am finally feeling myself again thanks to all the amazing instructors at the Carbon Valley Rec Center and the SIlverSneakers classes. I have been on my new journey for about 2 years now. I have found my new happy place.
